Rated 1 out of 5 by from Neither recyclable nor compostable! First, the company's use of the term "eco-friendly" is impermissible per the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Green Guide, as it is not a defensible claim. Second, while the recycled content paper in the container is a good environmental step, the fact that there is a PLASTIC liner inside, fused to the paper, means the container is neither recyclable by paper recyclers nor compostable by composters--the plastic liner is a contaminant to both processes. So it's destined for landfills or incinerators at end-of-life--not the best environmental story. Compostable liners which prevent leakage are available and could replace that plastic layer, and that would actually make the product environmentally preferred. If you care about getting to zero waste, choose another container that meets compostability standards!
